My tailored approach
The main aims of my tailored approach in Space to Change Counselling is to promote self-awareness and foster positive long-lasting change. A tailored approach hopes to address the client's specific needs and challenges more effectively and to capture the uniqueness of each individual and adapt the therapeutic process accordingly.
Key steps I use:
- Individualised Assessment:
After the 20-minute consultation prior to starting, a part of the first session is spent exploring the client's situation, including their presenting problems, history, personality, cultural background, and goals.
- Flexible Techniques:
Instead of adhering rigidly to one specific theoretical model, I draw from various therapeutic approaches and techniques to best suit the client's needs.
- Collaborative Goal Setting with reviews:
I work with the client to establish realistic and achievable goals that are relevant to the client's life. Reviewing the work with the client allows the client to reflect and build on their goals.
- Emphasis on Relationship:
A strong therapeutic relationship is crucial in a tailored approach, providing a safe and supportive environment for the client to explore their challenges and work towards their goals. Healing can be fostered when within the therapeutic relationship a client feels safe enough to talk about how they experience the sessions with me.
